On May 20 the 2010 Research Effectiveness Awards were held on glittering Darling Harbour in Sydney.

The night was a huge success with everyone grooving to the sounds of Jazz vocalist Emma Pask and her band, and enjoying the light entertainment from host Adam Spencer.

The night got off to a roaring start with Adam announcing the finalists for each category. After a nervous wait the winners were finally revealed, with some very worthy recipients taking home the coveted REA trophies.

The 2010 Research Effectiveness Awards judging panel features an impressive line-up of marketing, advertising, social research, academic and business leaders who have the difficult task of choosing this year’s winners. Let’s meet them…

John Batistich is the general manager of marketing for the Westfield Group, the largest listed retail property owner globally. John has 19 years of research, marketing and general management experience working for blue chip organisations like Lion Nathan, Kimberly Clark, PepsiCo Foods and The Wrigley Company. John has also consulted for some of Australia’s leading communication and private equity organisations including DDB. He has also led communications that have been awarded a Lion at Cannes and an Australian Advertising Effectiveness award.

Kate Inglis-Clark is the chief executive officer of OzTAM, the company that manages and markets television ratings data. Kate has worked for more than 15 years in senior management roles, including as a new product and business development director with AC Nielsen. Kate has also spent eight years at AGB:McNair, rising from project manager to the director of business development. She is an active participant in the market and social research industry, contributing to the development of research standards through the Market Research Quality Assurance Council (MRQA). Kate was elected as a Fellow of AMSRS in 2001 in recognition of her contribution to the industry. She was also elected as a council member of the International Association of Survey Statisticians for 2007-2011. Read more »

From online shopping habits to putting homelessness on the national agenda, the range of entries in this year’s Research Effectiveness Awards is interesting and diverse. We have representatives from research firms from across Australia who have given our judges the very difficult task of choosing the finalists, and ultimately the winners.

This year there are three different categories for researchers to enter their best work. These include:
